What's a Leader Formula?
Leader Formulas (often referred to as “rigs”) are the materials and parts that an angler assembles with knots to create the “leader” section of the fishing system (typically the final 3 - 15 feet of your system to the bottom-most fly).

Tying leaders or rigs up according to a Leader Formula can be a very enjoyable aspect of fishing. Just like tying your own flies, self-tied leaders offer the pride of knowing you have made it yourself. The payoff is even better when you catch something on one of your own creations!
